GAUTAM DABIR

A name well known amongst music lovers of the country, has inherited music from his (late) mother Smt. Shashi Dabir and his grand mother Smt. Mangala Joshi, the latter being an accomplished classical singer from the Gwalior Gharaana. With a conducive musical environment at home and constant encouragement from his parents Gautam, was inspired to embark upon this musical journey and since then there has been no looking back. A very versatile singer, talented music composer and music arranger, Gautam and his group, have performed all over the world and mesmerized audiences all over, with their music. Being a true Barodian at heart, Gautam and his group know the pulse of Vadodara’s Garba lovers very well. Their performances in the lighter genre of music (ghazals, bhajans, sufi, regional folk) are also loved by audiences around the world. Gautam’s background of Classical Music is clearly reflected in his singing. Gautam also was trained by Shri Hemant Kothari (Agra gharana) for voice–culture and speech culture.

Gautam and his group are experts at designing and presenting conceptual programs. They have performed various concerts on specific themes – to name a few

“Hum Dono” – a program of duet songs ,
“Sukoon” – a program of soulful Ghazals.
“Fan se Fun tak” – a program where songs with the fun element, humour are presented.

These programs have been very well accepted and appreciated by audiences.

Gautam also has had the opportunity of performing for “Geet Gunjan” – a popular music fest organized as a part of “Vadodara International Marathon” where he shared the stage with top artistes of Vadodara and the late - His Highness Shri Ranjit Singhji Gaekwad.

Music Arrangement and Compositions

Gautam has composed, arranged, and sung jingles and songs for corporates, educational institutes and special events (Vadodara Marathon being one of them).

Music Albums

His music album : SAY YES TO LIFE is very popular amongst youth and is an attempt to inspire them to stay away from suicide, drugs, alcohol and smoking.

Other albums to his name are : Ananda Tandava (Shiv Bhajans), Niranjani (devi bhajans) and Madhava (Krishna bhajans).

His latest album “Tere Aane Se” – a collection of soulful songs, has been released recently by H.H Sri Sri Ravishankarji in an event at the Art Of Living International Centre –Bangalore. More albums are under production and will be released soon.

Academics

On the academic front, Gautam has a Double Masters with M.Com and Master of Communication Studies Degrees under his belt. He specializes in Television Production and has had a stint with Sony Entertainment Television as an on-air promo producer for various serials like Movers and Shakers, CATS, Tujhpe Dil Kurbaan, Heena etc. He is also a visiting faculty at the Faculty of Journalism (MS University) where he teaches Media Management and Radio Production.

Aarohi Music Academy

For the past 10 years now, Gautam runs his own music academy in Vadodara where students are trained in classical/light music and instrumental music as well by accomplished faculty members. Regular Voice/Speech Culture Workshops are also held, which is an exclusive feature of the academy.

The Spritual Journey

For the past 9 years the group has also been performing bhajan concerts specially for the Art of Living Foundation (founded by H.H Sri Sri Ravishankar ). Gautam is on the Sumeru Sandhya panel of singers of the Foundation.

Gautam Dabir is also the pioneer of the “Youth Concert for Peace” which is a special spiritual concert tailored for the youth. His band performs selected bhajans /songs /sufi songs with a fusion touch. This makes it very attractive for youngsters and they keep asking for more. The basic aim is to inspire youth to come closer to our rich cultural heritage and at the same time broaden their vision - for the world around us is constantly changing. “Let’s Move Ahead Together” is the key slogan.
